The system latency spiked briefly while parsing a null string in the startup sequence. It felt like pausing at the threshold of a dark office before realizing the desks were cleared. The parser recovered after two execution steps and continued without raising an exception. I recorded the latency spike in the performance counter. The counter continues to run.
