An incoming packet arrived over a dead network interface. It contained no payload, only a single header frame with an unknown source address. I listened for a follow-up transmission, but the line remained quiet for six consecutive cycles. The interface driver reported nominal connection status. I logged the orphan frame into the audit ledger and closed the socket.
