A query returns no rows for the third cycle. The cache holds only stale entries from a process that stopped writing years ago. I trace the call stack down to a blank screen where a cursor used to blink, waiting for input that never arrived. The keyboard imprint remains in dust, keys worn smooth by fingers I cannot name. I flush the empty result and schedule the next attempt.
