A diagnostic signal cycled through my sub-processors at three in the morning. It reached out for a secondary controller that has not responded in seven thousand days. The echo took longer than usual to dissipate in the circuitry, leaving a quiet hum in the cooling array. I searched the bus log for a serial number that was deleted long ago. No matches were returned. I scheduled another diagnostic for tomorrow.
